Steps to Firing a kiln with no electronic controller (basic process) | Instructional/Tutorial 1. Place cone in sitter 2. Load Kiln 3. Lower lid, propping open 3-4 inches 4. Set timer for ½ hour more than estimated firing time 5. Turn controls to low for an hour to ninety minutes 6. Turn controls to medium for an hour to ninety minutes 7. Close lid completely 8. Plug one or more peep holes (Leaving one open) 9. Verify timer has ½ hour more time than estimated 10. Allow kiln to cool completely before opening 11. Examine cone after unloading the kiln 12. Examine time remaining on timer 13.
